INTERNATIONAL MICROWAVE SYMPOSIUM 2019--BOSTON. Military Embedded Systems is excited to announce today the winners of our Best in Show Award contest, which we’re holding this week for our supporters exhibiting at the 2019 IEEE MTT International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2019 conference and exposition taking place this week at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston. Contest winners – drawn from military embedded systems exhibitors at the event – are recognized for the improved performance and innovation they bring to military electronic systems applications such as radar, electronic warfare as well as for embedded computing and RF & microwave solutions.

IMS is the premier annual international meeting for technologists involved in all aspects of microwave theory and practice. It consists of a full week of events, including technical paper presentations, workshops, and tutorials, as well as numerous social events and networking opportunities. The symposium also hosts a large commercial exhibition. Co-located with IMS are the IEEE RFIC and ARFTG conferences. Visit https://ims-ieee.org/.

For the Best in Show Award, four-star, three-star, and two-star recognition may be given in multiple categories, with four stars as the top recognition. Winning entries are based on the counsel of an independent committee of industry judges.

4-STAR AWARDS:

Mercury Systems DS-3000 Microwave Synthesizer

Originally developed to enable Mercury's high-performance frequency converters, this microwave synthesizer offers phase noise and frequency stability and is now available as a stand-alone product. It provides frequency coverage from 100 MHz to 20 GHz in order to support broadband designs. Optimized for demanding electronic warfare (EW) and electronic intelligence (ELINT) applications, the DS-3000 operates over a wide temperature range and with low microphonics. To simplify customer integration, this signal source can be controlled through either a PC-based GUI interface or an SPI-bus. A high-performance synthesizer with low phase noise and a wide-tuning range is a critical element in next-generation systems, such as those for electronic warfare and electronic intelligence. Additionally, the wide temperature range and low microphonics enable operation in rugged environments.

Qorvo TGA2222, 32 - 38 GHz 10-Watt GaN Amplifier

Qorvo’s TGA2222 is a wide band power amplifier MMIC fabricated on Qorvo’s production 0.15 um GaN on SiC process (QGaN15). Covering 32?– 38 GHz, it provides 40 dBm (10 W) of saturated output power and 16 dB of large-signal gain while achieving greater than 22% power-added efficiency. The increasing demand for higher data rates in defense and commercial systems continue to push for higher frequency and performance of electronics. This is pushing for wide band and increased bandwidth performance. The TGA2222 is a high-power GaN-on-Sic power amplifier for wideband or mmW applications that are critical to the military industry, such as electronic warfare and electronic counter measures that work over very wide bandwidth, or for communication and satellite applications, point-to-point or radar systems that operate on band from a few MHz to many GHz.

Pentek Navigator Quartz

Pentek’s Navigator Design Suite has now been enhanced to support the company's family of Quartz products based on Xilinx’s RFSoC (RF System-on-Chip) solution. In addition to data converter support, the Navigator core library now includes 100 gigabit Ethernet UDP engines, each moving data in both directions at 12 GBytes/sec through on-board optical interfaces. The Navigator BSP adds new software resources for RFSoC ARM processors running Xilinx’s PetaLinux. In addition to drivers, software modules and example programs, the BSP now includes an API command processor application so that Quartz boards can be controlled by high-level commands received through the board’s PCIe or 1 GigE interfaces. Pentek’s Navigator Design Suite was designed from the ground up to work with Pentek’s Jade and Quartz architectures and Xilinx’s Vivado Design Suite. The combination of the Navigator Design Suite and Quartz Architecture deliver some of the highest performance RFSoC FPGA designs available today.

Walk the show – congratulate the winners – take advantage of IMS 2019, which brings you the latest advances in RF & Microwave technology that enable military radar, electronic warfare, and electronic intelligence applications.
