    Qorvo's ACT4751M is an automotive grade, programmable voltage regulator with bias supply rails for microcontrollers or USB PD controllers. It supports a wide input voltage range from 4.5 to 40 V and uses a synchronous step-down (buck) DC-to-DC architecture. It integrates both the high side and low side MOSFETS. These 50 mOhm on-resistance transistors enable high efficiency to reduce power losses.

    The product's main buck converter can be dynamically programed to an output voltage between 3 and 24 V in 12.5 mV steps via the I2C interface or analog feedback. It also can dynamically program output current between 0 and 4 A in 256 steps via the I2C interface in a constant-current (CC) operation mode. The main buck operates in a proprietary current mode control that supports external clock syncing for switching frequencies between 450 kHz and 2.25 MHz with features of 100% duty, out-of-AM radio frequency and spread-spectrum operation.

    ACT4751M is a perfect solution for USB Fast Charger applications based on the Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 and Programmable Power Supply (PPS) applications. The product integrates a 5 V / 350 mA mini-buck converter and a 20 mA AUX LDO of 0.9 V to 4.0 V to simplify application system designs. These rails can power up a controller and the 1.5 W VCONN line in active USB-C cables.

    ACT4751M provides an I2C port supporting fast-mode plus (Fm+, 1 MHz) with configurable address and also provides a full set of protections including UVLO, over-voltage input voltage lockout, OVP, UVP (Hiccup/Latch-off), OCP and TSD.

    ACT4751M is available in an AEC-Q100 grade, step-cut, side-wall-plating, 32-pin 5mm x 5mm QFN package with a power optimized footprint and exposed pad for improved thermal performance.

    This document describes the characteristic and operation of the Qorvo ACT4751EVK1-101 evaluation kit (EVK). It provides setup and operation instructions, schematic, layout, BOM, and test data.

    To communicate with the ACT4751EVK-101 a USB Dongle and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is provided.

    The ACT4751EVK1-101 demonstrates the ACT4751QI-101 power management IC.

    Qorvo achieved qualification for a Quick Charge 4+ and Quick Charge 3.0 reference design with the automotive AEC-Q100 device ACT4751M and a PD controller from Cypress (CCG3PA).

    These USB-C™ channels supports programmable 80W output voltage and current Quick Charge 4+.

    Current programming range: 1A to 4A in 50mA steps

    These Type-A channels supports programmable 60W output voltage Quick Charge 3.0 (and Quick Charge 2.0).
