ACT8847 PMU Specifically Designed to Power Samsung’s Exynos 4210 Family of Dual-core ARM Application Processors

SAN JOSE, – December 6, 2011 – Active-Semi announced today the release of the ACT8847 PMU. This device is a complete, cost effective, and highly-efficient ActivePMU™ power management solution optimized for the power, voltage sequencing and control requirements of the Samsung Exynos 4210 (S5PC210/S5PV310) application processor and the devices they go into.

“Devices such as tablets, GPS and e-books will benefit from the lower power usage, reduced cost and smaller foot print enabled by the ACT8847,” said Hiroshi Iwasaki, General Manager for Active-Semi PMU & New Technology business units. “Consumer devices such as set-top boxes, IP TVs and LCD TVs, which utilize dual-core ARMs, are also target products for the ACT8847. The ACT8847 gives customers the system level flexibility and lower overall system cost they look for in PMICs. The ACT8847 can be programmed to the voltage and power-up timing to best fit their SOC, simplifying their product design.”

The ACT8847 belongs to the ActivePMU™ Family of devices designed to power the CPU, memory, and peripherals in advanced portable devices. ActivePMU™ devices greatly simplify the system design process by eliminating the need for external discrete components, reducing the overall system BOM cost and time to market. The ActivePMU™ Family is expanding to support Quad Core APs in the near future.

Pricing for the ACT8847 is $1.80 in 10,000 unit monthly quantities. Samples and evaluation kits are also available.

Active-Semi’s ActivePMU™ family of highly integrated power management ICs combines best-in-class power conversion with intelligent system management. These devices provide cost-effective and space-saving solutions that feature factory-programmed voltage settings and output sequencing that are optimized specifically for many of today’s most popular CPUs. Recently released ActivePMUs offer skin-tight PMU/PMIC solutions for Application Processors from Samsung, Marvell, Telechips, AMlogic, Ingenic, Corelogic, SiRF, VIA, and others.
