New products enhance performance and expand capacity of 4G LTE networks

GREENSBORO, N.C. and HILLSBORO, Ore. – May 18, 2015 – Qorvo, Inc. (Nasdaq: QRVO), a leading provider of RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and aerospace/defense applications, today announced a new family of power amplifiers (PAs) offering industry-leading efficiency for small cell base station applications. Small cell solutions add capacity to mobile networks and are a key component in improving network performance.

"As global mobile data traffic and bandwidth requirements exponentially increase, Qorvo™'s customers require small cell solutions LTE advanced and heterogeneous networks," said Qorvo's president of Infrastructure and Defense Products, James Klein. "Qorvo's latest power amplifiers add to our product portfolio for the small cell market and enable customers to improve efficiency, expand capacity, lower costs and better support carrier aggregation."

The TQP9309, TQP9321 and TQP9326 product family covers all of the major 3GPP bands, within the frequency range of 700 to 2700 MHz. In fact, each product provides greater than 27 dBm output power across a wide operational range of frequencies, allowing use for multiple bands and being suitable for different regions worldwide.

"The flexibility of the TQP93xx product family allows small cell customers to implement multi-band support within a compact form factor," said Earl Lum, president of EJL Wireless Research. "We believe that for small cells to be successfully deployed, they will need to be multi-band, multi-RAT and MIMO capable."

These multi-stage PAs provide high gain in a small surface-mount package and require very few external components for operation allowing for a very compact system design. Up to 27 percent power added efficiency (PAE) can be achieved at 27 dBm output power, with a linearized 20 MHz LTE signal to meet base station PA requirements of -50 dBc ACLR. The high efficiency of the power amplifiers allows for small cell base stations to be more suitable for Power over Ethernet (POE) applications. Qorvo's TQP93xx products are in production and available now.

Part Number Frequency Range Bands Gain (dB) Pout (dBm) ACLR* at Pout (dBc) PAE at Pout (%)
    TQP9309 700 - 1000 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 20, 26, 27, 28, 29 32 28 -50 27
    TQP9321 1800 - 2170 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 25 30 27 -50 29
    TQP9326 2300 - 2700 7, 30, 40, 41 34 27 -50 22

    * Tested with a 20 MHz LTE signal and linearized with DPD.

Qorvo's power amplifier family will be showcased at Booth 331 at the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS), May 18-21 in Phoenix, Arizona. Qorvo also offers an extensive portfolio of power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, duplexers, filters and switches for the wireless infrastructure market. Discuss with us at the show or online using #IMS2015 and #QorvoIMS.
