Qorvo's TGA4866 is a transimpedance amplifier with a single-ended input and a differential output designed for NRZ optical receiver modules with baud rates up to 44.6 Gbps.
The low input referred noise density of 15 pA/root Hz combined with the differential transimpedance gain of 2.8 kohm leads to an excellent receiver sensitivity. The amplifier can handle large input signals of up to 4 mApp (optical overload of +6 dBm).
The TGA4866 includes an automatic threshold adjust to cancel DC offsets and results in output signals with distortion free duty cycles. An external current source or potentiometer can be used to further optimize the threshold. The TGA4866 has a low cut-off frequency of 75 kHz, which can be lowered further with an external capacitor connected to the threshold adjust.
The differential output voltage of 650 mVpp provides a good match to the next part of the receive chain, such as the SerDes. The transimpedance amplifier is driven by a single +3.3 V power supply.
The TGA4864 is manufactured in a reliable high-speed SiGe process that combines excellent performance together with cost-effectiveness.
