SAN JOSE, – June 1, 2011 – Active-Semi announced today the release of two additions to their family of charger and adapter solutions. The ACT364, released last year, is joined by the ACT365. Each provides an AC charger solution using NPN (negative-positive-negative) switching with Suitable Operation Frequency up to 85 kHz.
Most similar products on the market today are based on the MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor) technology, which is significantly more expensive. Utilizing a unique NPN drive technique, Active-Semi NPN solutions achieve 2% higher efficiency in 5V/2.1A solutions compared to traditional NPN based products.

The ACT364 and ACT365 ensure safe operation with complete protection against all fault conditions. Built-in protection circuitry is provided for output short-circuits, output over-voltage, line under-voltage, and over temperature conditions.
ACT364 and ACT365 ActivePSRs™ are optimized for high performance, cost-sensitive applications and utilize Active-Semi’s proprietary primary-side feedback architecture to provide accurate constant voltage, constant current (CV/CC) regulation without the need of an opto-coupler or reference device. Integrated line and primary inductance compensation circuitry provides accurate constant current operation despite wide variations in line voltage and primary inductance. Integrated output cord resistance compensation enhances output accuracy. The ACT364 and ACT365 achieve excellent regulation and transient response, yet require less than 100mW of standby power.
The compact ACT364 comes in 2W to 6.3W charger applications in 6-pin SOT23-6 packages. The ACT365 is optimized for compact size in 6W to 12.5W adapter applications. It is available in SOP-8 packages. Pricing on request.
