    4. UWB for Automotive: An Engineering Primer

    Ultra-wideband (UWB), an RF wireless technology, enables a myriad of new or enhanced applications that require highly accurate location and distance sensing. In automotive applications, it’s currently being used in the Car Connectivity Consortium’s Digital Key Release 3 specification and will soon be included in areas such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and connected autonomous vehicle (CAV) sensor suites.     5. From Sensored to Sensorless: How To Best Commutate Your Tri-Phase BLDC Motor

    Driving three-phase BLDC/PMSM motors requires different levels of intelligence to ensure the proper magnetization sequence is successfully generated. Using a microcontroller allows motor drive designers to embed multiple techniques which permit the final solution to benefit from enhanced performance and optimal efficiency. In this session, we will cover typical algorithms employed to generate the motor’s drive and control strategy. Other topics: Sensored versus sensorless commutation, six step trapezoidal versus sinusoidal commutation, with a deeper look at Hall Sensor, BEMF and FOC Algorithms.
